What break do you call home now and
why? Surfrider Beach,
Malibu. The reason I call this break home is because
I live less than a minute from there. I am there
everyday. I can hear the waves when I fall asleep
at night.

If you want to surf, just go do it. Get a suit and
a board and get in there. Stay out of the way, watch,
listen and learn. You provide the effort and pretty
soon you’ll be the guy surfing instead of
the guy watching from the beach.....

El Porto Surf Reporter
Spent
most of my childhood years growing up on the mainland
in ghettospectacular LBC, so I’d paddle out
at all the nooks and crannies between Surfside and
Huntington Beach… the Bowl, Anderson Street,
the Cliffs, Taco Bell Reef, the Apartments, and
of course, HB pier.........

What qualifies you to judge the waves for the rest of us? I use to be a judge for the Bud Surf tour and for the WQS. I traveled all over and judged the best surfers in the world from Tom Curren to Kelly Slater. |

When
confronted by a big, thick closeout barrel do you
straighten out or pull in and enjoy the view?
I enjoy the view. With the beaches becoming more
and more materialistic how could you pass up the
only view you can’t buy?

Any
words of advice for someone who is just learning
to surf? Respect the locals and never give
up. I know it sounds cliché but it’s
true. So many people take it as a fad and don’t
stay with it. It could change your life and you
outlook on it. Also, when that big double over head
set looms on the horizon, don’t forget to
sack up! |

Chris Aguilar
Palos Verdes Surf Reporter
What qualifies you to judge the waves for the rest of us?
Grew up in the water in Palos Verdes and surrounding areas and have a vast knowledge of swells, tides, and other oceanographic information that contributes to how we will get surf. I have always remained close to the water for as long as I can remember. Surfing is my passion and I love sharing this sport and talking about it as often as I can. |
